The Blues have made an excellent start under new boss Carlo Ancelotti winning three out of three Premiership games to date. A narrow 2-1 win over Hull was followed by an emphatic 3-1 win over Sunderland before they clinched the London derby against Fulham by a 2-0 margin.
Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka were on target in that game; scoring a goal each and creating another. Manager Ancelotti would have been delighted with the way his strikers paired up and will hope they can continue to do so in the upcoming fixtures as well.
Chelsea have a 100% record so far and it will be interesting to see how Ancelotti manages once the Champions League fixtures get underway. Deco and Essien are expected to be back for this game after being rested in the Fulham one.
Meanwhile Burnley have brushed aside a disappointing start to register two fantastic wins on the trot. Following their 1-0 win over Manchester United last week, the Clarets defeated Everton by a similar margin thanks to a Wade Elliot goal.
Manager Owen Coyle will be delighted with his side's showing so far and will strive to ensure they stay up this season. The Clarets continued their fine showing in the Carling Cup during the mid week as well as they beat Hartlepool by a 2-1 margin.
