Chelsea will be hoping for a better performance this season following the arrival of new boss Carlo Ancelotti from AC Milan. The wily Italian has managed to hang onto John Terry, who was said to be seriously tempted by the riches over at Manchester City.
Ancelotti has also managed to convince Didier Drogba to sign a new deal, which may see the Ivorian end his career at the Bridge. He has also said that Deco and Ricardo Carvalho will not be sold despite intense interest from Inter Milan.
Chelsea are still chasing a "marquee" signing in the form of Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery, but may not be able to complete the signing as the German club seem reluctant to do so.
Meanwhile Hull City are already being talked of as prime candidates for relegation. The Tigers managed to survive in top flight football by the skin of their teeth last season and experts feel they might not be so lucky this time around.
Hull have brought in Stoke City's Nigerian international midfielder Seyi Olofinjana and have also signed Jozy Altidore on loan. Manager Phil Brown is said to be close to signing Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo. Brown has some injury concerns ahead of the game with forward Craig Fagan out after undergoing a hernia operation.
